The Miatone Q12 Bluetooth speaker is a fairly popular option on Amazon UK, currently rated 4.4 with 14,912 reviews. It is very similar, if not identical save for some branding, to the EFM Toledo, as featured in many DankPods videos, to which he has given the name “The Sexy Speaker” on account of it’s rather alluring tone when announcing device functionality.
A friend sent his to me to have a look at. He said it wouldn’t charge any more. I fixed the issue, and have made this teardown/disassembly for anyone looking to get inside their own themselves for whatever reason, such as replacing the battery.
Please note: the teardown steps below are an imagining of how I believe the best way to do it would be, and not necessarily the way I did it, although I did do it, and if you want to see how personally, click here. I just wanted to say that, because you’ll notice the surrounding grille present on some photos after I said to remove it, and a removed front button panel, which is not necessary (unless you need to change the strap).
Tools:
- A Spudger (or two) – A thin piece of something to pry between seams
- A Phillips Screwdriver – Size #0
- Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) – to breakdown glue
There is glue present around the rings. Be gentle.
You may need more than 1 spudger, it does make it easier.
